Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry doesn't plan to spend his summer moping about his rocky playoff performance.

Jarry said Friday he's going to treat the offseason like every other, meaning he will take a few days off and then get back into training, hoping to be "the best version of myself" next year.

General manager Bob Murray and coach Dallas Eakins will return to the Anaheim Ducks next season after the club missed the playoffs for the third consecutive year.

Murray confirmed the organization's decisions Friday, nearly three weeks after Anaheim (17-30-9) finished the worst season in franchise history by points percentage.

Turner Sports has reached a multiyear agreement with Wayne Gretzky to be a studio analyst when its coverage of the National Hockey League begins in October. He will appear during key moments in the regular season -- including opening week and the Winter Classic -- and then throughout the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Wayne Gretzky has stepped down from his role with the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, effective immediately.

According to sources, Gretzky will join TNT as a hockey analyst next season. He had been heavily courted by the network and his good friend Charles Barkley, sources said.

Alex Ovechkin said he is "confident" he will reach a new contract with the Washington Capitals soon.

The Capitals' captain, 35, will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, as his 13-year, $124 million contract is set to expire.

John Davidson is expected to return to the Columbus Blue Jackets as president of hockey operations, according to a report.

The Columbus Dispatch reported the news Wednesday, saying an announcement could come as early as Thursday. Davidson and the team did not immediately respond to messages seeking confirmation.

Former U.S. women's national ice hockey team captain Meghan Duggan is joining the New Jersey Devils as a manager of player development.

"I'm looking forward to getting to work, and adding value in an area that I've committed my entire life to," Duggan told ESPN. "But I also hope people see this and realize there's a space for those who haven't traditionally been in these roles -- women, or BIPOC community members; there's a space for that. Times are definitely changing, and I'm excited to be part of it."

Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill has been given a contract extension despite a losing record and missing the playoffs in five straight seasons.

General manager Steve Yzerman made the announcement Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.

"It's hard to coach a rebuilding team," Yzerman said on a Zoom call with reporters.

Drew Doughty isn't the only player on the Kings roster who was disappointed about the team's disappointing run down the stretch. But as they go into a third straight offseason missing the playoffs, the defenseman laid down a challenge to the entire organization.

"As a team, we need to be better and get better," Doughty said. "That's not just on the players."

The NHL has told the Canadian government that it needs an answer on the Stanley Cup playoffs' coronavirus-related border travel issue by June 1.

"The conversations are ongoing. We've told them we really do need to know by the end of the first round, and that's around June 1. That's pretty much the date that we've talked to them about, saying we have to know one way or another," Steve Mayer, NHL chief content officer, told ESPN on Friday.
